CO2 Plant

Plant Design Conditions

The CO2 plant is designed for an inlet flow of 30,396 Pounds/hour at 21.2 PSIA and 120 dF from an amine plant separation system. The stream has less than 1.0 mole percent inerts/non-condensables and is approximately 92 mole percent CO2, with the balance being water.

The plant has produced 300 USTPD of food grade liquid CO2 product. Note the plant is designed for air cooling, and the original air coolers are/are not available.

The plant may be adapted for any type of conventional CO2 source, such as an ethanol plant, hydrogen plant with natural gas or naphtha feed stock, low pressure well, etc. Contact Total Energy for details.

The following major items of equipment are included:

A. Inlet scrubber system, all 304 stainless steel, with packed column , two 100 % Hp pumps, inlet water filters, outlet water filters and column separator vessel

B. Precooler unit , with refrigerated chiller, (304 stainless steel tube side, carbon steel shell side) and 304 stainless steel phase separator

C. CO2 compression unit, with two Frick low stage compressors (model 283 L compressors with 350 Hp motors), air cooled intercooler and 304 phase separator, one Frick high stage compressor (model 283 S with 1000 Hp motor), secondary oil removal system, air cooled aftercooler, refrigerated aftercooler (304 stainless steel tube side, carbon steel shell side) and 304 stainless steel phase separator.

D. Dehydration unit, with two desiccant type moisture removal vessels, automatic regeneration system, including switching valves, steam regeneration heater, filters and regeneration gas recycle system

E. Liquefaction/Purification unit, with refrigerated main condenser, vent condenser, distillation column, reboiler and product to storage subcooler
