Cutting and Re-Welding of Large ASME Tanks in the Field

Total Energy can cut very large and/or extremely heavy certified ASME pressure vessels
into sections small enough and/or light enough to be legally permitted and transported
on most US and Canadian roadways via truck. These tank sections are delivered with
our own specialized heavy haul trailers, schnables, and dollies, then re-erected and
recertified at our customers' sites utilizing "R" stamp certified welders.

The tank is match marked for future re-welding and then, utilizing a track mounted Bugo System equipped with a cutting torch, Total Energy surgically cuts the shell of ASME certified tank.

Total Energy utilizes customized schnable assemblies attached to a bolstered 6 axle steerable dolly and a multi-axle front end trailer to transport the large diameter sections, enabling the sections to be carried as little as 6" from the roadway surface, thus minimizing the height of the loads. The schnable arms are attached to custom fit steel rings that are welded to the head and interior of the tank sections.

Upon arrival of the tank sections on site, the custom steel rings are removed and the sections are set in place with our motorized hydraulic dollies or cranes. The sections are perfectly aligned, and re-welded back together. Once fully welded inside and out, the tanks are x-rayed and/or hydrotested per NBIC requirements and recertified for service.
